Beginner Driving Lessons - Beginner To Test Ready
Taking driving lessons is an essential step in progressing from a beginner to becoming test-ready. Here is a general outline of what you can expect during the various stages of driving lessons:
Beginner stage:
- Introduction to the vehicle: You'll become familiar with the car's controls, including the steering wheel, pedals, gears, indicators, and mirrors.
- Basic vehicle operation: You'll learn how to start and stop the car, accelerate smoothly, brake properly, and steer effectively.
- Understanding road rules: Your instructor will teach you the fundamental traffic rules, road signs, and markings, as well as how to respond to them.
Intermediate stage:
- Developing maneuvering skills: You'll practice essential maneuvers, such as turning into and off a main road, dealing with traffic lights, and navigating roundabouts.
- Increasing awareness: You'll focus on improving observation skills, checking mirrors and blind spots, and maintaining situational awareness on the road.I
- Safe driving techniques: we'll emphasize safe driving strategies, including anticipating and responding to potential hazards, maintaining a safe following distance, and being aware of pedestrians and cyclists.
- Building confidence: I will help you gain confidence in your driving abilities by gradually introducing more complex driving situations, such as driving in different traffic conditions and navigating busier roads.
Advanced stage:
- Advanced maneuvers: You'll work on mastering more challenging maneuvers, such as changing lanes, recognising & responding to bus lanes, and parking (parallel parking, bay parking, etc.).
- Test preparation: As you approach the test readiness phase, your lessons will focus on fine-tuning your driving skills, practicing the specific requirements of the driving test, and addressing any areas that may need improvement.
Test readiness stage:
- Mock tests: We will conduct mock driving tests to assess your readiness for the actual driving test. This will help you become familiar with the test format and identify any areas that need improvement.
- Final practice and refinement: I will work closely with you to fine-tune your driving skills, ensuring you are confident and comfortable behind the wheel.
The number of lessons required to become test-ready can vary based on individual learning capabilities and prior experience.
Mock tests
When all your dreams and expectations are wrapped up in 40 minutes of driving, the pressure can soon mount, so don't take chances, book a mock driving test.
The mock driving tests are very much like the real thing. You'll get the eyesight check, the safety questions and the standard 40 minutes of actual driving. After this is completed, you'll get a pass/fail and an overview of any mistakes, so you continue to improve. This is valuable feedback and it's always a good indicator of your strengths and what you need to work on. So improve your chances of passing the real thing and call today.

Entering the motorway for the first time is incredibly daunting.
If you’re looking to take on the motorway for the first time, I will be there to guide you through the process, building your confidence, so with a little practice, you can become a capable, safe and confident motorway driver.
Or you may already have your licence but just want some extra practice. Even if you passed your test years ago, not everyone is confident on the motorway, and some motorists may go years without having to drive on one. Don't worry, I can help you.
